At one time the Alden Country Inn was one of thirteen inns surrounding the Lyme common. Today, as in yesteryear, the historic Alden Country Inn is a respite for folks weary of the frenzied lifestyle of this century, and who want to step back to a simpler time and enjoy the hospitality of a New England bed and breakfast. The Alden Country Inn allows visitors to experience a typical small northern New England village. Their enclosed porch overlooking the town common invites guests to relax and stay awhile. Tasty and elegant cuisine is prepared and served in the finest New England tradition. Whether you prefer the more formal atmosphere of fine dining in the 1809 dining room or the casual atmosphere of the tavern or Washburn Pub, you are sure to be pleased. The Stagecoach Tavern was added to the Inn in 1820 and continues to serve both locals and visitors. Enjoy relaxed casual dining by the fireplace in the antique-filled tavern, with the comfort of a fire in season. A full country breakfast is included in your stay. Enjoy freshly baked scones and muffins, a variety of egg dishes made to order, and their famous stuffed French toast or pancakes topped with their own maple syrup. The restored and newly decorated guestrooms provide all the amenities you expect yet reflect the ambiance of a bygone era. Driving Information

1 Market Street, Hanover, NH - From Rutland State Airport: Depart the airport heading Northwest and make a slight left turn onto VT-103. Make a slight right turn onto US-7 North and continue for 4.9 miles. Turn right onto Woodstock Avenue/US-4 and continue to follow US-4 East for 40.7 miles. Merge onto I-89 South and continue for 3.1 miles. Take the I-91 North/I-91 South exit toward Brattleboro/White River. Merge onto I-91 North via the exit on the left toward White River Junction and continue for 14.5 miles. Take the VT-113 exit - Exit 14 - toward US-5/Thetford. Turn right onto Main Street/VT-113 and continue to follow VT-113 for 1.4 miles. Turn left onto Lyme Road/VT-113. Lyme Road/VT-113 becomes East Thetford Road. East Thetford Road becomes NH-10. Turn right onto Main Street/Dorchester Road and continue to follow Dorchester Road. The inn is at the far end of the common, to the right of the large white church.
